Uthralikkavu Pooram

The Uthralikkavu Pooram, is one of the most important festivals of Thrissur District. This eight-day long festival is dedicated to Goddess Kali, and is celebrated at the Sree Ruthira Mahakalikavu Temple in Wadakkanchery, usually in the month of February. The temple is located about 20 kilometers away from Thrissur town. The highlight of this festival is the day and night elephant processions. The final day of the festival is celebrated as pooram day. The main attraction of the festival is a massive fireworks display.

Kodungallur Bharani

The popular Bharani Utsavam is carried out during March-April (Meenam) for eight days. The devotees coming here wear red colour costumes to see Kodungallur Amma. Kodungallur Thalapoli is also a famous festival of this city, which falls during Dec-Jan every year, witnessed by thousands of devotees.


Guruvayur (Malayalam: ഗുരുവായൂർ, Sanskrit: गुरुवायुपुरम्, Guruvāyupuram), also written as Guruvayoor or Gurupavanapuri, is a municipal town in Thrissur District, of Kerala State in India. It houses the Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple, the fourth largest temple in India in terms of the number of devotees visiting per day.
